Misprint Messages

VivaTerra, which means living earth, is dedicated to living in harmony with nature resulting in a healthier planet for current and future generations. VivaTerra combines beautiful design with eco sensibilities.

One stunning product I found are created from misprinted can labels. The artist aquires misprints directly from can factories before making all kinds of amazing eco-friendly household items such as flatware, trash cans, tea chests, magazine racks, and watering cans.

I think my favorite, however, are the Misprint Messages. The graphic words spell out eat & drink, and can be purchased all together or separately. I want them!

Pop Warhol's Top

Touch the Art: Pop Warhol's Top

It's pop, with a twist - A fun collection of works by such 20th century masters as Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Hockney that turns the art world into a fingertip sensation. What could be better than pulling on the lettuce in Claus Oldenburg's "Two Burgers with Everything"? Or stroking the fluffy eyelashes on Warhol's pink-toned "Marilyn"? It's an experience kids will never forget. 24 board book pages. 7in. x 9in. Price: $19.90

Fern Animals

I am in love with the creations of Ashley Anna Brown. She sews these adorable little creatures she calls Fern Animals. Each Fern Animal is handmade, and no two are alike. They stand approximately 2.5-5 inches tall. There have been variations and hybrids of bears, cats, lions, fawns, foxes, and birds. The selection is always changing, depending on what she is inspired to make.

Please check her blog for the latest updates on what she is working on, and pictures of her newest critters. You can visit her other site to see drawings and other lovely creations.

recycled art notebooks

There is something that really appeals to my eco-concious (and inherently flawed) nature in creating something beautiful from a mistake. The Australian artist with the etsy shop esta sketch did just that when she created beautiful notebooks from prints of her original art that went slightly awry in the silkscreen printing process. You can get three matching notebook for $19 in her etsy store.

What a beautiful mistake.

one for one

How often do you find something that is stylish and worthwhile?

Since 2006, for each pair of TOMS shoes that have been purchased, TOMS has given a pair of their shoes away to a child in need. So far that total is over 60,000 pair of shoes gifted to children in Argentina and South Africa. Their goal is to give away 200,000 shoes to children in need around the world. How awesome is that?

And guess what...they happen to be really freaking cute shoes. Check out the Tiny TOMS shoes for little ones. My daughter Rowan is soooo going to be sporting these cute shoes soon.

In addition, TOMS shoes offers a few other products. One is the FEED bag which is designed to raise awareness and funds for hungry children and to help them get into school and out of hunger. Each FEED bag sold will provide a school year of meals for one child in need and give them the hope of an education and a regular meal. Whether you tote your FEED bag to school, work, play, or shop, remember that your bag helped to FEED and educate one child for one school year.

TOMS shoes are also available at many Whole Foods Markets.
